July 6 - Day 76 - From Tahoe's Volcanic Rim to Donner Pass

From Barker Pass (Mile 1126.8) to Ski Lift porch at Donner Pass (Mile 1154)

Total PCT Miles Hiked Today: 27.2

Dionysus here.

Long day. Another marathon.

Another fun day running all around the startling landscapes of the volcanic rim of Lake Tahoe.

Calochortus everywhere.

Many fine vistas and all kinds of new flowers when we move down in elevation. Two big passes and still good miles. But man, are we exhausted at the end of the day. The hiking seems either more substantial than before or maybe the base level of aches and pains is higher than it has been. My joints hurt even at night.

Another night of looking for a campsite well into the evening and doing more miles than we intended. Fun and funny weird camp spot on the deck of the maintenance station above the Judah chairlift of the Donner ski resort. Great sunset over the chairlift and the lake below.

Sundown over the lifts.

But we fall asleep with our mosquito head nets on -- bugs & beauty seem to come together.
